Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, and edema(swelling). In addition, massage therapy for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension--which aids in better sleep--and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

Reflexology is a focused pressure technique, directed at the feet or hands. It is based on the premise that there are zones and reflexes on different parts of the body which correspond to and are relative to all parts, glands and organs. The benefits of Reflexology are: Relaxation with the removal of stress Enhanced circulation Assists the body to normalize metabolisms naturally Complements other healing modalities A Reflexology Session Reflexology sessions are for people of all ages, from the newborn to the elderly, for a general tune-up or for an unhealthy body. The vast majority of people usually realize the benefits of reducing stress which in turn minimizes physical symptoms. Reflexology in conjunction with other forms of therapies complements ongoing medical treatments. A complete Reflexology session is performed on both feet. The session will last 60 minutes.  Using a firm pressure, the reflexes are worked according to the client's requirements. Stress removal is the first priority followed by enhancing circulation. The pressure exerted by the practitioner usually ranges from 0 to 10 or 20 pounds. Reflexology is not meant to inflict pain and common sense dictates when less pressure is required.

Chakras are energy centers in and around the body. They can be treated to bring balance on multiple levels. Through a series of questions, the therapist will assess which of the Chakras needs balancing. Using the piezoelectric effect of crystal tools, the therapist will aid in the process of a naturally occurring resonance. This technique is always unique to the receiver and can be very effective at routing out the causes of symptoms on various levels.

This ancient technique is practiced by the Hawaiian people. The word Lomi Lomi means to rub. The ancient "Kahunas" (Keeper of Secrets) along with members of the community would treat their people with herbs, oils, chants, and prayers. This modality uses minimal draping as not to interrupt the flow of strokes. Lomi Lomi uses strokes that mimic the forces of nature; earth, air, fire, water. Sometimes known as four handed, forearm massage because of the way the therapist uses his or her arms and hands. This is an intuitive, nonlinear method. Hawaiian music also plays a big role in the session as well to bring the feel of Hawaii to the session.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum. The goal is to release compression in those areas which alleviates stress and pain. Cranial sacral therapy seeks to restore the natural position of the bones and can decrease stress from chronic injuries as well as provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint disorder (the inflammation of the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull) and more. Craniosacral therapy (CST) involves light holding of the skull and sacrum and barely detectable movements. Indeed, the action of craniosacral therapy is so gentle and slight that it is the best example of the so-called “subtle” therapies, which claim to achieve profound health benefits with minor and safe interventions. Practitioners believe that the tiny manipulations of CST influence the pressure and circulatory rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that surrounds and cushions the brain and spinal cord.
